Empowering Girls Through Education
Organization: SSAH Social Welfare Foundation
Location: Rural Uttar Pradesh, India
Focus Area: Girls’ Education & Empowerment
The Challenge
Social norms, household responsibilities, and financial constraints often force girls to leave school early. Many families believe educating girls is unnecessary, leading to low enrollment and high dropout rates among adolescent girls.
Our Response
SSAH Social Welfare Foundation introduced focused interventions to support girls’ education through community learning centers, parental counseling, and mentorship. Safe learning spaces were created where girls could study, ask questions freely, and gain confidence.
Awareness sessions with parents highlighted the long-term benefits of educating girls—not just for families, but for entire communities.
The Impact
450+ girls brought back into formal education
Increased attendance and retention among adolescent girls
Improved self-confidence and participation in class
Stronger community support for girls’ education
A Story of Change: Pooja’s Confidence
Pooja, a 14-year-old from a small village, had stopped attending school due to household responsibilities. Through SSAH’s community classes, she resumed learning in a supportive environment. Slowly, her confidence grew.
With encouragement from teachers and her parents, Pooja returned to school. Today, she dreams of becoming a nurse and inspires other girls in her village to continue their education.
A Brighter Future
By empowering girls through education, SSAH Social Welfare Foundation is helping create stronger families, healthier communities, and a more equal future.
