Bringing Education to the Doorstep
Organization: SSAH Social Welfare Foundation
Location: Rural Uttar Pradesh, India
Focus Area: Access to Quality Education
The Challenge
In remote villages of Uttar Pradesh, thousands of children struggle to attend school regularly. Long travel distances, financial hardship, shortage of teachers, and social barriers—especially for girls—force many children to drop out at an early age.
Our Response
In 2022, SSAH Social Welfare Foundation launched the “Shiksha Sabke Dwar” (Education at the Doorstep) initiative. Evening learning centers were organized within children’s own communities so that education could reach those unable to attend formal schools or those falling behind in class.
Trained educators conducted daily sessions in reading, mathematics, science, and creative learning. Parents were also engaged through regular community meetings to emphasize the importance of education, particularly for girls.
The Impact (2022–2025)
2,100+ children supported across 15 villages
69% improvement in basic literacy and numeracy skills
450 girls re-enrolled in formal schools
35 local youth trained as community educators
41% reduction in school dropout rates
A Story of Change: Anita’s Journey
Anita, a 12-year-old from Bodna village, had dropped out of school after Grade 3 to help her family. When evening classes started in her village, she joined out of curiosity. Within months, Anita regained confidence and developed a love for learning.
With SSAH’s support, she re-enrolled in school and now attends regularly. Today, Anita also helps younger children learn to read—becoming a role model in her community.
Looking Ahead
SSAH Social Welfare Foundation aims to expand this initiative to 50 more villages by 2026, reaching over 10,000 children and ensuring no child is denied the right to education.
